The parish was privileged to have Russell Young ordained as permanent Deacon in a stunning celebration at the 5:30 pm Mass on Sunday 8th July. Bishop Kieran led the ceremony which was attended by Frs Frank and Con from St Dunstan's. Also attending were Frs Chris Bergin, Royston Pegley, Richard Blythen and Dominic Rolls (Russell's tutor)

The ceremony involved a number of deacons; assisting Bishop K were Dcn Mike Thoms and Dcn Seamus Mahon; the gospel was read by Dcn John Edwards; and Russell was assisted to vest by Dcn Tony Kinal and Dcn Charles Parker, fellow students on the formation programme.

Friends from the parish and Russell's work were joined by members of his family including Mum, brothers Chris and Nick (who brought up the gifts) and one from Australia!

The celebration continued after mass in the hall where the parish shared food to welcome the new Deacon.
